7 Things You Should Not Do For Receiving Consistent Flow of Visitors

When your site is receiving good flow of visitors, you will not want to make any mistakes that can cause your site to receive less traffic. If you cause any annoyance to your site visitor, your visitors will not want to be interested in visiting your site again. Here are 7 things that you should avoid so that your blog receives consistent flow of visitors:

Disturbance On the Entry Page
Playing background music that are not important, running presentations and videos can seriously annoy your readers and make them leave your site. Having large-sized ads will not only cause your website to load slowly but also it may annoy your site visitors and make it difficult for him or her to navigate elsewhere on your site. All these items will only waste the time of the visitors.

Bad Content
When a visitor visits your site, apart from the looking at the attractive visuals of your site, he will go through the articles present on your site. If the site has boring content, readers will not be interested in visiting your site again. Hence, you should offer interesting articles such as tutorials, how-to guides, list-type articles, and so on.

Avoid Using Stock Photos for Your Business
There are many business sites that make use of stock photos. Images of people having a meeting and people working on their computers are some of the commonly stock photos on business sites. Frankly speaking, these photos are never able to convey anything about your business to your readers. In order to maintain the authenticity of your business, you should add pictures of the products you are offering and you can even photos of your satisfied customers along with their testimonials.

Poor Navigation
Your visitors should be able to easily find out things that they want to see on your website. Your website should be user-friendly. Different people may come to see your site for different reasons. Some may want to view your pricing, others may want to read the articles present on your site, others may want to see the FAQs page, and others may want to see your contact information. All these things should be easily accessible to your readers.

Sluggish Performance
The speed of a site can severely impact the number of visitors it receives. Users can get frustrated when they come across sites that don’t load quickly. This can make them visit competitor websites. You should be ready to do anything to increase the speed of your site. Reducing Flash content, lowering the size of images, and improving navigation are some of the things that you can do to increase the speed of your site.

Irregular Updates
If you manage to build a visually attractive website with high quality content and you’ve got a really good domain name, your site can fall apart if you do not update your site regularly with new posts. How will your site visitor feel if he visits your site after 20 days and still happens to see the same old content that he read before? Will he bother to read again? Will he visit your site again? Hence, you should add two or three fresh posts in a week.

Lengthy Sign Up Forms
When someone wants to purchase your product or register on your site, one can get very frustrated when he is made to fill a lengthy sign up form. It should not ask visitors irrelevant information such as username when things can work out by signing up with an email address. Imagine your visitor spending time in filling 20 or so field and then he happens to encounter an error after hitting the submit button. He may end up filling the form all over again and waste more time. Hence, the sign up forms should be short and less time consuming.

  2. These are some really good tips, but definitely like the one about the stock photography. I swear, I find that sometimes when I’m visiting the company’s website that has that same good-looking guy and pretty girl sitting around the conference table, I start to question if I’m at the same website as it just was. Hopefully companies. To see that having a really well-designed website can definitely impact the bottom line. Thanks for really great article I liked it.
